The Seminar
The SDG4U project organised a “Train the Trainers” seminar as a key educational initiative designed to empower university educators.
The event took place on May 30th at Pantheion University.

Training scope
The seminar aimed to equip participants with tools and methodologies to integrate the SDGs into both teaching and institutional practices, supporting more sustainable and transformative education.
The seminar was structured into four focused modules. Each module includes presentations, exercises, workshops, and open discussions aimed at developing interactive, participatory, and innovative teaching practices.
Introduction to the SDGs and Higher Education
Objective: Explore interdisciplinary approaches and their value in addressing complex global challenges.
Presentation: Overview of the 17 SDGs, the 5Ps (People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership), and the role of universities. Activity: SDG mapping exercise across different academic fields. Discussion: How can SDGs be embedded into every faculty’s curriculum?
Interdisciplinary Learning
Objective: Explore interdisciplinary approaches and theirvalue in addressing complex global challenges.
Presentation: What is interdisciplinary learning? Examples linked to SDGs (e.g., SDG11 – Sustainable Cities). Case Study: Cross-departmental collaborationscenario. Workshop: Design a sample interdisciplinarycourse around a specific SDG.
Multi-Actor Collaborative Learning
Objective: Train educators on involving externalstakeholders (NGOs, businesses, policymakers) insustainability-focused education.
Presentation: Introduction to MAL, with emphasis on SDG17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Interactive Workshop: Design a MAL-based learning activity or course project. Discussion: Benefits and challenges ofs takeholder collaboration in higher education.
Action-Based Learning
Objective: Promote experiential learning strategies such asproject-based, community-based, and research-ledmethods.
Presentation: What is Action-Based Learning? Why it matters for SDGs. Activity: Design a learning activity using ABL, tiedto one SDG (e.g., SDG2 – Zero Hunger). Reflection: What skills are developed through ABLand how can they be assessed?
Join the training
Participants gain the necessary knowledge to design courses or activities based on the SDGs and to exchange good practices with colleagues from diverse academic fields.
The seminar targets academic staff who wish to act as change agents within their institutions, promoting sustainability, social responsibility, and active global citizenship.
